About Us

Tenchi Family Karate teaches traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do adhering to time-proven methods of instruction handed down from the masters of the past and present. We strive to develop the character of our students first and foremost. Students learn to set, work toward, and achieve goals through dedication and perseverance. Through effort and hard work all worthwhile goals can be achieved.

He is also certified as a 6th Degree Black Belt in Japanese Goju by the National College of Martial Arts International (NCMA), headed by Lou Angel, named Black Belt Magazines 2007 "Man of the Year". Brock, a local business owner and former floor covering executive, is devoting his time and energy to help build the character of people young and old alike. He is also a karate instructor in our local school system and Sergeant-at-Arms for the local Marine Corps League.

THE INTERNATIONAL OKINAWAN GOJU-RYU KARATE-DO FERDERATION (IOGKF)
The International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Federation (IOGKF) was established in July 1979 by Sensei Morio Higaonna with the support and backing of Mr. Ken Miyagi (fourth son of Bushi Chojun Miyagi, founder of Goju-Ryu), senior Sensei in Okinawa (many of them students of Chojun Miyagi), and senior students of Master Kanryo Higaonna. The original purpose of the IOGKF was to preserve and protect the true teachings and philosophy of Bushi Chojun Miyagi, and to spread these teachings throughout the world. This purpose still remains as the primary theme of the IOGKF today. To this end, training seminars and training camps are conducted around the world by Higaonna Sensei each year, as well as by many of his senior students. Because of the great dedication and determination of Higaonna Sensei and other senior members, the IOGKF now has approximately 75,000 affiliated members in over 55 nations around the world.  The IOFKF is one of few Karate organizations that the Japanese Government recognizes as a true Japanese Traditional Martial Arts Organization. The IOGKF is a proud member of Nihon Kobudo Kyokai (Japan Traditional Martial Arts Association).

CURRICULUM
The true focus of Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do is to instill people with strong character, morals and discipline. Moral, intellectual and physical training combine as one to encourage positive development of the human spirit. Through karate training, a student will learn to focus and apply the power of the mind. Students develop qualities centered on courage, morality, resolve and responsibility. These are facets of human character necessary for the development of humankind and which contribute to the health of society as a whole. This is what is meant by karate-do. This is what we practice. This is what we teach. Tenchi Family Karate and our International organizations, the IOGKF and NCMA, are primarily concerned with contributing to the positive development of the human condition through the art of Goju-Ryu Karate-Do. All people, regardless of race, age or gender, are welcome.
